Garlic turmeric jasmine rice is a simple and tasty side dish. The garlic and turmeric adds a nice flavor to the jasmine rice, making it a great match for many meals.
Garlic turmeric jasmine rice is a quick and easy side dish that adds a burst of flavor and color to any meal. With just a few ingredients, you can transform simple jasmine rice into a fragrant, golden dish that pairs beautifully with a wide variety of mains, from grilled chicken and fish to roasted vegetables or curries.
One of the best things about this recipe is how versatile it is. You can serve it alongside almost anything, making it a go-to side dish when you want something tasty but don't have a lot of time. The rice cooks in under 20 minutes, so it's perfect for busy weeknights when you need something on the table fast.
Another great thing about garlic turmeric jasmine rice is that it's just as good the next day. You can easily store leftovers in the fridge and reheat them for a quick and satisfying meal. Whether you're pairing it with leftovers or using it as a base for a new dish, this rice pairs with anything.
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
Jasmine rice: If you don’t have jasmine rice at home, you can use basmati rice instead. But keep in mind that basmati rice has a slightly different texture.
Water: If you want to elevate the dish you can also use vegetable stock instead of water. This will enhance the flavor of the rice.
Olive oil and butter: Olive oil and butter is used in this recipe to sautée the garlic.
Garlic: Make sure to use fresh garlic and not garlic powder. Fresh garlic has a stronger, more complex flavor compared to garlic powder. When you cook with fresh garlic, it releases a rich aroma that garlic powder simply can’t match.
Ground Turmeric: Turmeric adds a mild, earthy and a bright golden color to the dish.
Ground Cumin: Enhances the overall flavor of the dish.
Parsley and chives: I recommend using fresh herbs for topping the rice.

Step by step instructions with pictures:

3. After about a minute, stir in the turmeric, salt and ground cumin. Cook for about 30 seconds to toast the spices a bit.
4. Next, add the rinsed jasmine rice to the pot and stir well to coat it with the oil and spices. Then pour in the water and bring it to a boil.
5. Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot and let the rice cook for about 15 minutes or until it is tender and the water it absorbed.
