Olive Tapenade

Recipes -> Appetizers

If you’re looking for a quick and flavorful appetizer or spread, this olive tapenade is a must-try! Packed with the delicious flavors of olives, capers, and garlic, this Mediterranean-inspired dip is perfect for spreading on bread or toasted baguette.

I first discovered olive tapenade during a breakfast outing at a little café. It was served inside a wrap with tomatoes, feta and arugula. Curious to recreate that amazing taste at home, I started researching olive tapenade. I learned that it’s a simple spread made from olives, capers, and sometimes anchovies. With a little experimenting in my kitchen, I managed to make my own version that tasted just as good as the one I had at the café. Now, it’s a favorite in my home, perfect for breakfast, snacks, or even as a quick appetizer when friends come over.

What to serve Olive Tapenade with?

  • Wraps: You can use olive Tapenade inside a wrap, similar to the one I wrote about above.

  • Crackers: You can also use it as a topping for crackers.

  • Baguette: Perfect for an appetizer.

  • Meats: You can top some of your favorite meats with it for an extra burst of flavor.

What kind of Olives should/can I use?

You can use any type of olives from Kalamata Olives to Black Olives, Green Olives or a mix of all.

Ingredients you will need for this recipe:

  • Kalamata and Green Olives: I like using a mix of the two olives. Make sure your olives are pitted.

  • Capers: Capers add a burst of tangy flavor to the tapenade.

  • Olive oil: Helps to bind the ingredients together into a spread.

  • Garlic: Enhances the flavor of the dish. You can also leave it out if you don’t like garlic.

  • Lemon juice: Brightens the flavor of the tapenade.

  • Parsley: Adds freshness and a touch of color to the spread.
